Powers/Abilities: Super Intelligence- Richie's first power was intelligence, which gives him intense knowledge in any subject. He's best at math, science, and history, though pretty much knows everything in general.
Weapons/Items: Zap Caps model 2- unlike the first model he has made for Virgil, these are an update that he can use himself. They are attatched to a belt, that he has made to hold his invention, that he just takes off and throws at the enemy. They all hold a different effect, some shock the enemy when they touch it, some throw tenticle-like arms out that wrap around the enemies in a tight brace, inabling them to move. Others throw out a concrete-like material that explodes around the target then hardens, some throw out a sticky substance that distracts the target for a while. Some throw out a dark gas that momentarily blinds the target, and others throw out a very cold substance that works like ice around the target.
Backpack- Backpack is not any ordinary backpack, he's Richie's reliable robot that attaches itself to Gear's back. What could Richie do without Backpack? It's attatched with a metahuman tracking device, allowing Richie to track down any bang babies that are listed with a criminal record. It also has a glass eye that sends a recording to Gear's helmet (look below), this is mostly useful for detective sneaking up on bang babies and investigation work. It also has quick gadgets attatched to it, like scissors, a mechanical arm, a metal tenticle, a satalite, a drill, and many other things, even a drill and a CD/casette player. The things backpack can do are endless and comes very useful for many task.
Gear's helmet- His helmet is mostly used to disguise his appearance, but it can be useful quite often. It can recieve date from backpack that Richie can read from his visor. It also pinpoints exact locations of bang babies, can track down DNA like fingerprints and footprints, and can also work like nightgoggles.
Boots- Richie had created boots that allows him to fly, they have small rockets attatched to the bottom of the shoes that work like a small jet.
Gearcrete- This is a substance that Richie made to trap metahumans. A capsule explodes and this concrete flys out. It then hardens seconds later, trapping the person inside.
Gear's drill- This is a tool Gear made to open locked doors

History: Back in Dakota City, where gangs and racism are no strangers there, a freak accident happened one night where a huge gang war started up at the storage docks. Police targetted the gang war with helicoptors and in order to stop it they sent down bottles tear gas, but the barrels and boxes the docks stored were filled with an unknown liquid the exploded on impact from the tear gas. A loud explosion errupted, later followed by an unkown purple gas spreading throughout the docks rapidly. Gang members and innocent onlookers had no time to escape the gas as they breathed it in their lungs, choking and sputtering, some even passed out from breathing too much of it in. The gas had strange side effects, no one died or was serious injured from the gas, but it did mutant the person's DNA. Some recieved superhuman powers, others were mutated and morphed into something other than human. The gas was soon to be named "Bang Baby Gas" as the people effected by it were named "Bang babies" and "metahumans".
One kid, in particulair, got hit by the gas, and that was Richie's best friend, Virgil Hawkins. Virgil's sideeffect from the gas was control over static electricity, where he can control static and electricity through him. With Richie's help and intense knowledge in comic superheros, they changed Virgil to a superhero, Static. Even though Virgil was the one with superpowers, he still depended on Richie for help, as Richie would often create inventions that would help Virgil fight bad guys and bang babies. It was Richie's mind that created Virgil's most reliable weapons, his disk that Virgil depended on for transportation, and his zap caps that can refill Virgil's power after using it for a long time.
Over time, both Richie and Virgil noticed how smart Richie had become since Virgil became Static, almost too smart. Richie could solve any math equation in his head and soon knew everything there was too know. Turns out Richie was also effected by the bang baby gas, making him extremely smart, but how can he use that as a power against fighting crime? Richie found a way, through his inventions he's almost instoppable, making weapons for himself through his intense knowledge in science, and could easily come up with a way for stopping villans with his mind. Richie became a superhero known as Gear, always by Static's side while fighting crime in Dakota city.
Almost 2 years after their gift, they found out the city had found a way to reverse the bang baby effect, so bang babies were loosing their powers fast, and so were Richie and Virgil. With Virgil's drained powers he couldn't stop anything, and since Richie was rapidly loosing his knowledge he couldn't come up with a formula for stopping the bang baby cure. All looked hopeless until one of their archrivals stole the last formula for bang baby gas, used for making the cure. With the last ounce of bang baby gas, he set off another bang baby explosion, and as a result Virgil and Richie regained their powers and even more. Because the two recieved even more blast of bang baby gas then before, they were even powerful then from the first bang baby explosion, leaving the two almost unstoppable.
Role Play Sample: While on patrol with Static, he runs into the meta-breed who want to take him and Static down. While Static takes on Ebon, Gear has to deal with Tallen and Shiv. when both Shiv and Tallen rush at Gear, he takes out two zap caps(2nd Ed.) and throughs in their direction. They get caught in the zap caps and are stuck on the ground, shortly after Static returns with a power Ebon. They contacted the police and three were carried off to jail.
